Josée Daris

Josée grew up in a small town in Quebec, Canada. For 15 years, she has been defending and promoting gender equality, the individual and collective rights of Indigenous Women and Peoples, and the rights of refugees.

She has worked with civil society organizations from Canada, Europe and Latin America. She is interested in policies, programs and projects for gender equality, diversity and inclusion. As a way to make an impact, she specialized in results-based management, feminist and intercultural assessment, strategic planning, action research, and knowledge management, among other fields. 

She has a bachelor’s degree in international studies and modern languages, a diploma in immigration and interethnic relations, and a master’s degree in public action and research practices. She also completed two years of a doctorate in Law, where she focused on indigenous justice and legal pluralism, as well as judicial sociology and anthropology. She completed specialization programs in human rights with institutions/organizations in Switzerland. 

Josée is fluent in three languages: Spanish, English and French. She also speaks Portuguese. However, none of those languages is enough for her to describe the beauty of a landscape: the one she sees through her window during winter’s first snowfall.
