Maimouna Ba

Maimouna Ba is an Indigenous Peulh Woman from the city of Dori, Seno province, in the Sahel region of Burkina Faso. From a very young age, she has been fighting for equality and defending humanitarian causes with her activism.

Maimouna is the founder and current president of the association Femmes pour la Dignité du Sahel (FDS), an organization promoting women’s leadership and participation, education, empowerment, and the fight against gender-based violence. In addition to actively participating in the African Indigenous Women’s Organization (AIWO), Maimouna serves as the advocacy and communications manager at Save the Children, Dori.

She has coordinated projects to empower Indigenous Women through eco-responsible farming and the valorization of local craftsmanship. In doing so, she has helped build resilience among internally displaced Peulh women in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

Maimouna holds a bachelor's degree in Marketing and Management and is currently pursuing a Professional Master's in Project Management. She has supplemented her studies in human rights through FIMI’s Global Leadership School, and other training courses on advocacy, leadership, and audiovisual editing tools.

Maimouna dreams of the day when all human beings will have the same opportunities and possibilities.
