Political Participation and Advocacy

Political Participation and Advocacy

We strengthen global alliances and facilitate the full and effective political participation of indigenous women in international decision-making processes, following-up on the commitments made by the States. Participation in advocacy spaces at all levels is one of the priorities of the indigenous women’s movement around the world. That is why we are committed to facilitating and accompanying political participation processes for the empowerment of indigenous women through four strategies:

We implement these strategies in coordination with organizations from the United Nations family and with regional networks of allied indigenous women from the Americas, Africa, Asia, the Arctic and the Pacific. That is how we facilitate dialogues and consensus building processes at the global level.

At FIMI, we promote a paradigm shift where instead of being tagged as minorities or vulnerable groups, indigenous women are protagonists of their own stories, subjects of rights and agents of change.
